Rebecca Seal Photography bio picture
  • Welcome to my blog!

As a wedding photographer with nearly a decade of experience, I take pride in knowing that my images will be cherished forever by the couple and their families. My photos have been described as fresh, vibrant and stylish, while maintaining a clean and classic aesthetic. Throughout the day, my assistant and I maintain a fun and relaxed atmosphere that allows us to capture not only the must-have traditional images, but true, emotional candid moments that will forever allow you to recapture the magic and relive the defining moment in your life together.

Jody and Rick; Balboa Park

Adorable is the word that comes to mind when describing Jody, Rick, and their four children. I  imagine it could be rocky bringing two families together but this group of six got along so well I honestly had a hard time figuring out whose kids were whose upon first meeting. In true family effort the kids pitched in from beginning to end, applying Jody’s makeup, walking her down the aisle, holding the hoopah, and making the yummy cupcakes provided at the reception. All of which turned out beautifully.

The ceremony was held at the Casa Del Rey Moro Gardens just behind The Prado restaurant and reception upstairs in the Loggia Room. These two opted for a pre-ceremony cocktail hour,  casual non-assigned seating dinner stations (I’m starting to see a trend here), and no formal wedding traditions besides the grand entrance and first dance. The rest of the evening was spent socializing and dancing. I would call it an elegant extended cocktail party which is exactly what these two were going for.

Since the ceremony was at dusk we completed all of the bridal and family pictures beforehand allowing us to use as much available natural light as possible. Jody expressed her concern in our initial meeting about not being a fan of having her picture taken, in fact I believe she said it was a fear of hers but with words of encouragement from her wonderful partner Rick, a little extra time given to work through any anxiety that crept up, and my super stealthy side shooter Jill I think it all came together beautifully!

Congratulations you two on bringing your wonderful families together and cheers to your new life!

Laura and Lou; Pacific Union Pocket Park and La Jolla Financial Building

Though I have worked at the Musuem of Contempory Art in La Jolla several times I have never photographed a ceremony at their Pocket Park which is located on the southwest corner of the property directly across the street from the ever popular Wedding Bowl. The name aptly describes the park; it is for small groups only and is a teeny tiny park perched on a hill just above Coast Blvd. It has these wonderful big pines enclosing it which provides a sense of privacy.

The reception was held on the patio of the La Jolla Financial Buliding, which I must say provides one of the best views of the La Jolla coastline that I have ever seen. It is truly gorgeous, and with the tent and additional lighting brought in it ranks high on my list of reception venues for the La Jolla area.

When I arrived at Hotel Parisi for Laura’s getting ready photos she was on the nervous side and shared a few tears among her bridal party. We had a good time taking things slowly, and Laura’s maid of honor pitched in to help calm nerves by carrying a bottle of champagne through the streets of La Jolla for our pre-ceremony photos.:)The groom opted out of getting ready photos at his home so we had my assistant meet him and his groomsmen over at The Prospect Bar and Grill for a few casual hanging out photos.

Once the words “I now pronounce you man and wife” were spoken, huge smiles broke out on both Laura and Lou’s face and you could tell any stress or previous worries about the weather, gift bags, timelines, etc. had flown out the window. They were together and that was all that mattered — I love that moment:)

The reception was such a fun party. Lots of laughter, delicious food, close friends, great family, and I can’t forget the dancing….there were some definite moves happening on the dance floor!

Congratulations Laura and Lou, I wish you all the best in your new life together!

Rachael and Greg; Scripps Seaside Forum

It was brought to my attention this post from March had been deleted….so here it is again.

Mother Nature had us guessing whether she was going to let Rachael and Greg hold their wedding as planned on the lawn of the Scripps Seaside Forum up until 30 minutes prior to the ceremony. The bride was about to flip a coin to help with the decision just as the sun peeked through. That was all the sign she needed and it was on! The couple and guests were troopers as they braved quite a bit of  wind, cooler temperatures, and a few raindrops but were rewarded with an absolutely beautiful service uniting these two lovebirds in matrimony. The festivities continued inside with a full night of dancing and lightsaber battles (yes you heard me, lightsabers, Greg is a huge fan of Star Wars). Congratulations you two, rain or shine you two are perfect together!

Kristen and Chase; The Thursday Club

Words cannot express how sweet Kristen and Chase are together. These two have overcome a lot in their lives but with the help, love, and support of both their friends and families they have reached stable ground, and what a beautiful place it is:)

This wedding was so heartfelt, I must admit I had tears in my eyes as Kristen and Chase presented her mother with a poem they had collectively written as a thank you for not only her help with the wedding but for the support and patience she has given them throughout their lives. It was such a moving moment and I walked away from the evening with one thought in my mind…. these two are the real deal!

Congratulations you two, I wish you two the best in life!

Special note from the bride regarding her makeup- “Desiree applied airbrush makeup. I was sweating, crying, and literally dripping with sweat and my makeup did not smudge one bit or have to be reapplied! Very competitive pricing, highly recommend”

Carolyn and Robby; Estancia Hotel, La Jolla

Autumn is here… at least my assitant and I felt like it was during this beautiful wedding held at Estancia Hotel on September 18th. The weather was on the cooler side, leaves were falling from the trees, and Carolyn’s flowers enhanced the fall mood with beautiful combinations of yellows, oranges, and browns.

When I arrived at the ladies’ getting ready room all were calm, primped, and ready for photos. Since Carolyn and Robby did not want to see each other before the ceremony my assistant and I split up to individually photograph the bride and groom, their bridal parties and families at seperate locations around Estancia.

While photographing Carolyn she kept commenting to those around her how ready she was to get this show on the road and wanted to fast forward to the ceremony.  Later when I regrouped with my assistant before the ceremony I asked how the groom was doing and she said, “great, a bit nervous, but really ready to get to the ceremony”.  I thought, “oh that is really sweet, these two are both so excited”. Well let me tell you as soon as Carolyn hit the aisle and Robby finally saw her they both lit up and it was nonstop smiles from there on out, simply put…….. totally in love:)

Enjoy your sneak peak you two, and keep singing “So Happy Together”
