Rebecca Seal Photography bio picture
  • Welcome to my blog!

As a wedding photographer with nearly a decade of experience, I take pride in knowing that my images will be cherished forever by the couple and their families. My photos have been described as fresh, vibrant and stylish, while maintaining a clean and classic aesthetic. Throughout the day, my assistant and I maintain a fun and relaxed atmosphere that allows us to capture not only the must-have traditional images, but true, emotional candid moments that will forever allow you to recapture the magic and relive the defining moment in your life together.

Ian and Talia; Scripps Seaside Forum

I like to refer to Ian and Talia as my record breaking “fourth generation couple” since I have photographed three of their friends’ weddings (quick shout out to Lucy and Robert, Stacey and Dave, and Lara and Ken):)Ian and Talia came to me just a month prior to their wedding, explaining that though they had been engaged for three years they had spent that time moving from San Diego, to Texas, to North Carolina, and then back to San Diego. Now settled, they were ready to move ahead with their plans and chose the beautiful Scripps Seaside Forum as their venue.

I loved their super relaxed attitude from the get go and was excited about their plans of incorporating the people and activities they love into the wedding. Ian is a huge fan of surfing so as an alternative to the guest sign in book they had a custom surfboard made and had the guests write directly on it with special paint. In lieu of gifts they made a donation on their guests’ behalf to the Surfrider foundation, and enlisted close friends as emcee and dj for the evening.

One of my favorite memories from the day is when Ian showed up at the getting ready house for them to do their “first look” and Talia just could not hold back her tears. She kept reciting “just look up, just look up” as the makeup artist had suggested, but her emotions won out as soon as Ian came through the door. There was so much joy, so much happiness, it was just perfect!

Congratulations you two, I have no doubt you will have a blast exploring the world together.

The Humphries

I was so excited when Shannon emailed me asking if  I could photograph her and her husband with their darling little one Kate and the family dog, Lucy.   Shannon and Scott are former clients who were married at the Wild Animal Park in 2005, and I am so pleased they thought of me to capture their family portraits.

I won’t sugar coat it, working with little ones in new wide open spaces has it challenges. There are lots of  things way more interesting to look at than the boring old photographer, there are many things to pick up and put in your mouth (particularly if they are teething), and there is lots of room for them to run and explore–though usually in the opposite direction from me and my camera:)This is the challenge and this is the fun of it, kids being kids. It requires allowing them extra time to wander and investigate, taking breaks between groupings to prevent frustration on their part, and having a sense of humour.

One of my favorite photos from this session is the collage of Kate with all the objects she is “tasting”. She is in the teething stage so instead of trying to take everything away from her we let her do her thing, and I think the pics turned out as a perfect snapshot of this phase of her life and development. I also love that she wanted to share all her objects with adorable Lucy ( the family dog).

Savannah Turns Four!

I had so much fun on this shoot! This was my first time photographing a children’s birthday party and I honestly had no idea what to expect. I showed up and there were 10 little ones running all over the front yard but the parents did a great job keeping them entertained. The kids were treated to a petting zoo, a pony ride, and a pinata! It was quite an exciting day and the kids kept me moving but I absolutely loved it and look forward to photographing more of these events (hint hint my past clients who have started their families:)Happy Birthday Savannah!

Client Comments

Unfortunately I had to turn off the option to allow client comments on my blog and website due to crazy amounts of spam and viruses but I wanted to share a couple of emails I have received from recent clients that just made my day:)

My husband who works for HP had a vendor summit here in San Diego last month. Some of the vendors from Japan were very interested in my photo business and how wedding photography differs here in the States compared to Japan. I gave them my business card to check out my website and this is the response  I received…LOVE IT!

All pictures are really very touching.
