Vanessa and Sal Get Married; Twin Oaks Golf Course, San Marcos

If you asked any friend or family member who attended this wedding last week you heard a definite reoccurring sentiment: It is about time these two got hitched!:)

Vanessa and Sal are a lovely couple who have been together for over 7 years after meeting on the  job at AmeriCorp. They have a solid  relationship built on support and trust which just shines through when they are together. Despite some hiccups in the beginning of the day (some bridal party members not showing up for pre ceremony photos as expected ) they took it in stride and  proceeded to enjoy their time together, making for a wonderful day spent with friends and family.

Congratulations Vanessa and Sal!

Adonica and Morgan

Can I just say I love working at Barona Casino! Having never shot or visited the casino I had no idea what to expect of the location when Adonica and Morgan first booked me. Since they had hired me on recommendation from past clients without meeting me I suggested we get together at the casino, which allowed some time to get to know each other and gave them a chance to point out their favorite parts of the casino grounds. I quickly saw why these two lovebirds picked this location–beautiful lakes surrounded by rolling hills, brightly colored gardens, cute bunnies–and with the wedding facility completely seperate from the casino you feel more like you are at a resort.

The wedding day weather was perfect, not too hot and not too cold.  Adonica and Morgan did a great job of letting all family members involved in pre-ceremony photos know exactly where and when they needed to be ahead of time, so the whole day ran super smoothly. These two were at such ease with each other and I will never forget her father tearing up during his toast when he was letting everyone know just how thankful he was that his daughter had met such a wonderful man. A truly touching moment.

Here’s to many years of happiness, it was pleasure working with you both.

A Sneak Peek: Lisa and Jason

I am always excited to photograph in a new location and boy did this one deliver! Welcome to the historic San Juan Capistrano Mission where Lisa attended school as a child. The day came together beautifully; gorgeous bride, handsome groom, fabulous location, wonderful families…. as a photographer you really couldn’t ask for much more. Thank you Lisa and Jason for being such a wonderful couple to work with and enjoy a big fruity drink for me while your on your honeymoon in Tahiti:)

Barbara and Jason’s Engagement Session

Barbara and Jason met several years ago as undergrads in the Public Health Department at SDSU. They were fast friends and for years supported each other through the trials and tribulations of obtaining their  bachelors, masters, and (almost done) PhD programs. Two and a half years ago Barbara put the moves on Jason (go girl, I did the same with my husband), friendship blossomed into love, and now a wedding date has been set!!!!

We decided for this portion of the shoot to mix Jason’s favorite hat, Barbara’s awesome yellow shoes, and their general love for bright colors into a more urban environment. Just before sunset we headed  over to Little Italy incorporating the exterior of the ultra cool El Camino Restaurant (highly recommend it, yummy yummy food) and nearby surroundings. As all of us beach lovers know May Gray and June Gloom are upon us but it is important to remember overcast skies = great portrait lighting.

These two were so great to photograph, completely willing to ham it up, act “goofy”, and let their love for each other shine through. Enjoy the photos, Lovebirds:)

An afternoon with the Morgan Family

I was delighted when Kristin, an old work colleague of mine, contacted me to ask if I would be interested in photographing her family.  Her husband Joshua is an enthusiastic photographer himself and has captured many posed portraits of the family since the adorable Andrew came into their lives just over 2 years ago. In celebration of their upcoming 10 year anniversary they decided they would like to expand their family album by incorporating some “real life” casual and fun portraits. We picked the late afternoon to shoot since we wanted to make sure Andrew had a good nap and snack behind him. When photographing the little ones I have found this is key: work within their natural schedule.

With the recent discovery of both his and his mother’s noses, the fact that Dad flies the best airplanes in town, and just how much a willow plant tickles others when you stick it in their faces, we were off to the races. To me these are some of the most precious moments in a family’s life together, and I absolutely love being there to capture them. Congratulations you two on your 10 year anniversary and on your beautiful family!
